Dr. Mohammad Azam has been appointed as the new DG of Bangla Academy. Presently, he is an associate professor in the Department of Bengali at the University of Dhaka. Khalil Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture confirmed this.

The Ministry of Public Administration informed Dr. Azam about the new assignment. He was born on August 23, 1975, in Hatiya, Noakhali, and completed his graduation and post-graduation from the Department of Bengali at Dhaka University. Later, he completed his PhD through research on the colonization and decolonization of the Bengali language.

His field of interest includes literature, aesthetics, history, politics, and cultural studies. Among the important publications of Dr Mohammad Azam are "Bangla o Promito Bangla Samachar," "Nirbachito Kabita: Syed Ali Ahsan," and "Kobi o Kobitar Sandhane."

Under his appointment, Dr Azam shall guide the Bangla Academy regarding promotion of the Bengali language along with its literature.
